Players need to choose five of 24 unique shape-color combinations (called Shaplors) to determine the answer key. At the start of the game, 5 Shaplors are randomly selected to create the answer key. Players have 10 chances to determine the answer key.
Each Shaplor has a value, which is calculated by adding the shape value and the color value. In Normal mode, the 3 shapes are randomly assigned one of the following numbers: 10, 50, or 100. In Hard mode, the shapes are assigned a 10-factor number 10-100. The 8 colors are randomly assigned: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8.
For efficiency, players should keep track of the Shaplors they have already guessed to avoid guessing the same Shaplors repeatedly.
Using the process of elimination is an effective strategy that can help players eliminate impossible answers and find the correct answer key more quickly.
"I’ve been in the market for a new game for months, nothing was catching my eye, everything was boring or had already been done. Now, I’m no good at math but I love puzzle games. Most games aren’t able to separate the two and I figured this would be the same, play it a few times find something new. Imagine my surprise when I spent 45 mins playing and didn’t even realize. This app has easy to follow instructions, beautiful colors and a simple design that makes it so easy to get lost in. On top of that, it’s something you can do with family and/or friends, compare scores or help each other beat a level. A big thank you to William for creating something refreshingly new in this world of conformity."
Game is super fun and I like how it’s a brain exercise. Took me a try or two to get it but once I got it it was super fun. It’s kinda like trial and error but you have to think wisely because you only get so many trys.
For some constructive criticism I think this game would do even better if their was a tutorial mode, and had some feedback pop up after interacting with the game to help the user understand the objective and what’s going on. The game could also use some fun graphics. Maybe a sparkle shining around the green boxes, add an appealing cover image for the app and some fun animations in the game itself. Add some more shapes further into the game to make it even harder. Overall really like the game and I think it’s got huge potential. Good start for sure 👍🏻!
""Revolutionary For Puzzles I am an avid puzzle game player- and very picky when it comes to new puzzles. So avid I do the crossword on the way to lecture every single day. And when I tell you that I fear Shap10r is going to slowly take over my life, I’m being genuine. The game was a little tricky to figure out at first but once you play a game or two you will be ADDICTED. The concept is completely original and remains entertaining after playing multiple times! You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, but if you really want to increase your score you can start honing in your strategy. I would love to see if a multiplayer or leaderboard situation would be feasible in subsequent versions. All of that to say, I’m MAD this game didn’t find me sooner in the semester! What an amazing way to relieve stress AND have fun :)"
